Wearing New Things

What you can to do to wear the new things you've never really worn before, so they don't end up in the back of your closet.

Whether you are stressing about going out in public in it and what people may think, or you're struggling with putting outfits together that include the new piece.

These are three things that help:

Make time to create outfits:

Whether you bought it with outfits in mind, or you just loved it and decided you were going to make it work in your wardrobe.

Planning one or two outfits with the new pieces you bring home right away will make choosing it when you go to get dressed a no brainer!

Pinterest is a great tool to utilize for this, if you haven't already check out the blog post on Pinterest Tips!

Manage your mind:

Because it's new, your mind might want to tell you it's not the right time or place to wear it yet, and so it slowly drifts to the back of your closet.

Thoughts like this are not facts or the absolute truth.

You can wear your new thing out of the store if you want to.

The place and time to wear something ultimately doesn't matter. What matters is if you want to wear it. Be mindful of the thoughts that tell you you can't or shouldn't wear something, and question them.

Remember what made you want to purchase it, and focus on how you can wear it today, instead of if or why you should.

Keep your comfort:

If wearing the new thing feels like a step too far out of your comfort zone when you go to put it on, pick out things that are your absolute favourite to wear with it, things that do make you feel comfortable.

Start small, and grow your outfit options as you get more comfortable with the new piece.

Another way to keep your comfort when it comes to new things is wearing them around your house until you feel comfortable in them. Doing this gives your clothes a more lived in feeling, and it allows you to get used to wearing something new without worrying what other people think.
