Top 10 Transition Pieces for Spring

If you're like me, daylight savings is killing you on the inside a little each morning. The only saving grace is that the light in the day lasts longer, and spring feels like it is upon us!

Because of the newly "warm" weather we've been having I wanted to share my top 10 favourite transition pieces that will help you move out of winter weather dress, into spring effortlessly.

So, here we go:

1. Add a Maxi Skirt!

Feel free to still wear your cozy sweater, but pair it with a skirt, or even a maxi dress underneath. Skirts and dresses that are less restrictive will have a more natural spring look to them.

2. Your Classic or Not So Classic Trench Coat

Trench coats are lightweight and extremely versatile in your wardrobe. They can be worn with almost anything, are great for layering, and they provide effortless chic. This spring try mixing it up with some colour or even a pattern.

Mules are a great transition shoe because they are less cumbersome than boots, and are more open without looking like a summer sandal. You can start wearing them early on with your favourite winter pieces to start transitioning your wardrobe for spring.

4. Light-wash Denim

Whether it is jeans, a denim jacket, or a chambray shirt, you can still pair it with many of your winter essentials. Lighten your denim choices for a more inviting spring look.

5. Wide-leg Pants

For a more open and airy spring vibe turn to wide leg pants instead of your winter skinnies. They will still work with your sweaters and blouses too!

6. OTK Boots with Dresses

Start wearing your over the knee boots with spring like dresses, and ditch the jeans. Todays is the first day I have worn a dress in Lethbridge in months, and I couldn't be happier. (Dresses are my favourite, my go-to, the best!).

7. Leather Jacket (A.K.A. Your New Coat)

As it gets warmer, put away the parka, and pull out this staple wardrobe piece that can be worn with a skirt, dress, or jeans, as your new coat!

8. White Clothes

Introduce some white pieces back into your wardrobe. Not everyone is comfortable in white jeans or pants, so start with a layered white button up or even a plain white t-shirt!

9. Colourful Handbags

Reach for a handbag that provides a pop of colour in your outfit, whether it's pastel or bold and rich. This will help your outfit to look less like winter sadness.

10. Chic Sneakers

Swap out your boots/booties for a fresh lightweight pair of sneakers to wear with cropped jeans, skirts, pants, or even a chic pair of leggings!
